I've just GOT to do better with keeping this page updated! How about someone put me on email blast when they see it's been more than a month since an update? <smile>

So . . . what have I been up to? Well, I've completed the manuscript for Passin', which will be published by Warner Books -- oops, I mean Hachette Books --- oops I mean Grand Central Books (They keep changing the name . . . I can't keep up!) in February. And I can't wait! Passin' is set in 2007, and is about a young light-skinned African-American woman who decided to pass for white. Click here to read a synopsis and an excerpt. And you can preorder a copy from Amazon by clicking here.

Well, Satin Nights has once again made the Essence Bestseller's List! Yep, it's number 8 on the June list. So let's see . . . that's five months it's made the list . . . , December, January, March, April and now June. Come on, admit it . . . Satin Nights is just a damn good book. <grin> And if you haven't purchased it yet, well guess what? It just came out in paperback! So now you can get it for about half of it's original price. Click here to purchase it from Amazon

Black and Ugly by T. Styles also made the June list. Black and Ugly is Ms. Styles' second book (she also wrote Hustler's Son), and this is her first time making the list. Big time congrats to her. She's really making a name for herself in the street lit genre . . . so remember her name! You'll likely be hearing it again. And go get her book!

So . . . what else is new? Well, I've been trying my hand at screen writing and have come up with two wonderful (if I may say so myself!) film treatments . . . so if there are any film producers out there reading this, you might want to contact me to check them out.

Oh! Oh! Oh! And guess what? My daughter, Camille -- who is a Clark-Atlanta student majoring in film --  just landed a summer internship at Fox Searchlight! Um, yeah, I know that doesn't have anything to do with books or literature . . . but I'ma proud mama, and you know how we proud mamas do! <grin>

Heck . . . here's a picture of Camille. Isn't she gorgeous?

But back to books . . .

Three cheers to Eveningstar Writers's Group for getting back on the ball. We haven't met in a good six or seven months and I actually had to write Passin' without feedback from the group. That was no fun. But we're back on the ball again. Any Philly writer who is SERIOUS about becoming a published author and has the dedication to meet one night a week with six or seven writers is welcome to contact me about possibly joining the group. But this is not a drop-in group . . . if you're looking for a group to join, please do contact me. DON'T contact me just to sit in on the group to see what one is like. <grrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!>

Well, I guess I'm going to sign off for now! I can't believe I don't have so much more to say . . . I wonder if I'm coming down with something?

Oh well . . . that's it's for me, then . . . but I hope to hear from you all. Drop me a line on my guestbook!
