BEST-SELLING AUTHOR
FINDS INSPIRATION FROM
HER DAUGHTER

Talk about falling into your talent, Karen E. Quinones Miller, the Blackboard best-selling author author of Satin Doll and I'm Gelling, is back with her third book Using What You Got (Simon & Schuster, $22). Yet you may be surprised to learn that she never aspired to be a fiction writer.

"No one was more amazed than me," says the Harlem, NY native.

It was her daughter Camille who challenged her mother to explore other avenues for her writing. Miller was a reporter fo the Philadelphia Inquirer at the time and had no plans to write a book.

"When I got to the computer and started typing these words just kind of poured out of my fingers," she says. "I wrote Satin Doll in two months." Originally self-published and marketed, her first effort  in the fiction arena resulted in a six-figure book deal.

Miller's Using What You Got introduces readers to 19-year-old Tiara Bynum. The young woman is looking for a man to spoil her the way her father does. It is described as an "engrossing novel about family, loyalty, love and self-discovery."

Although Miller fell into fiction, she is enjoying the ride. She says, "What astounds me is how many people are inspired, personally, by my books." Check out the author online at www.karenequinonesmiller.com
